AN ART gallery has welcomed students to a workshop aimed at building confidence through exploring the work of its artist.
Arthaus Gallery and workshop in Richmond, home to Mackenzie Thorpe, invited Richmond School students to the upstairs collection and gave them the opportunity to take ideas from a variety of work and themes.
Mackenzie Thorpe’s animation, created with Teesside University and currently on show at the gallery, was used as a basis for pupils to think of their own projects and to have confidence in their creativity.
Gallery worker Vicki Pugh said: “It really was a very inspiring day.
“The pupils really responded to Mackenzie’s work as a group and as individuals.
“His work lends itself to all ideas and emotions and I think this really provided a great platform for building young people’s confidence in voicing their ideas.”
The workshop was conducted in anticipation of Mackenzie Thorpe visiting Richmond School in the near future.
