POLICE are investigating reports that a woman in her 20s has been attacked with a knife.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after the woman was found with knife wounds to her throat at the old railway line near Flatts Lane, Normanby, Middlesbrough, at 1pm today (Monday, March 24).

The woman was taken to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough with non-life threatening injuries.

The police helicopter was scrambled as part of the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Cleveland Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
