MUSEUM REOPENING: Middlesbrough’s Captain Cook birthplace museum reopens on April 1 for the summer season.
This year includes an exhibition about life on board Cook’s famous ship Endeavour for young midshipman Isaac Smith, compared with Captain Cook.
It includes a rare portrait of Captain Cook by John Webber which is on loan from the National Portrait Gallery until the end of May 2014.
The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday and Bank Holidays from 9.30am to 4.30pm with the last admission at 3.45pm. For more information visit www.captcook-ne.co.uk.
