CO-OPERATIVE outlets across the region are appealing for help to spread some Easter joy to children in need.

The Co-operative Travel in Morrisons, Darlington, and Co-operative Funeralcare branches across County Durham have launched their annual Easter egg appeal.

Co-operative Travel is collecting eggs to give to St Teresa's Hospice, the children's ward at Darlington Memorial Hospital and Darlington Children's Services.

Co-operative Funeralcare branches are collecting eggs to share amongst schools and organisations for people with learning difficulties and children living with their mums in women's aid refuges.

Jenette Sisson, manager of The Co-operative Funeralcare Darlington division, said: “As a business at the heart of the community we want to put a smile on as many faces as possible again this year.”

The branches taking part are Darlington, Newton Aycliffe, Bishop Auckland, Shildon, Crook, Spennymoor, Ferryhill, Stanhope and Brandon.

Eggs should be dropped off by April 11.
