MORE than 100 vintage cars are expected to roll into the region for a major rally.

The Jowett Car Club is holding its international rally later this spring and vehicles dating from the 1920s to the last models from 1954 are expected to take part.

Jowetts were built in Bradford, West Yorkshire, between 1910 and 1954 and the car club was formed by supporters in 1923.

The rally will take place between May 23 and 26 and will be based at the Redworth Hall Hotel, near Darlington.

A static display of vehicles will take place on Saturday, May 24, in the front gardens of The Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle.

Drivers will then take to the roads on Sunday, May 25, for a scenic run which will take in Wolsingham, Stanhope, Eggleston, Staindrop and Shildon.

Visits to the National Railway Museum, at Shildon, and the Tees Cottage Pumping Station, in Darlington, are also planned during the weekend.
