THE distinctive presenter of the BBC Tees Breakfast show took to the airwaves today (Friday, March 21) under his new when he nailed his colours to the mast of his beloved Middlesbrough Football Club.
Ali Brownlee has gone the extra mile and officially changed his name to ‘Up The Boro Brownlee’ for the duration of the Sport Relief Weekend.
And the team’s head coach Aitor Karanka was witness when the radio host changed his name by deed poll on Thursday.
As a result of the name change, BBC Tees changed all its jingles this morning (Friday) to reflect the new name of the show, “BBC Tees Breakfast with Up The Boro Brownlee”.
He said: “When I was asked to do something for Sport Relief, I wanted to do something linked to my passion, which is Middlesbrough Football Club.
“When I was told I had to sign a legal document at the training ground, I immediately thought that I was going to be the new Boro centre forward. In actual fact, it’s a deed poll certificate to change my name to Up The Boro Brownlee.”
