A MOBILE bike repair business is celebrating after it has been able to expand to have a permanent base in Richmond.

Bikanic, run by veteran Sam Poxon who set up the business last year after 22 years in the Army, has moved into a unit in Gallowfields Trading Estate which is shared with triathlon specialists Tri Kudo.

In conjunction with Tri Kudo, Bikanic will be launching the repair and maintenance service on Saturday, March 29 with a day of activities, a prize draw, and North Yorkshire Police will be security tagging any bikes brought along.

Mr Poxon said: “Bikanic opened as a small family business that in a year has grown to a fully-functioning repair and maintenance service.

“We specialise in mountain bikes, downhill bikes and road bikes, but we can also look at children’s bikes.

“At the opening event we will Watt bikes challenge for adults with prizes for the fastest times, a children’s turbo trainer, and a free prize draw with some goodie bags to be given out.”

Mr Poxon said there will also be Tri Kudo-sponsored athletes at the event, and a team of mountain bike coaches will be on hand to give advice.

Mr Poxon is a qualified Cytech level three mechanic and qualified to service all models of suspension units.

Tri Kudo stocks all equipment necessary for triathlon including bikes, wet suits and running wear.

The Bikanic team will be offering full cycle services for £45 that can be booked on the day.

The event, from 10am until 5pm, is at Unit Three, Gallowfields Trading Estate, Richmond.
