A FAULTY lightbulb caused a plane to make a precautionary landing at Durham Tees Valley Airport (DTVA).

The Eastern Airways plane was travelling from Humberside to Aberdeen on Wednesday evening when the pilot made the decision to land at DTVA due to a cabin light bulb defect which led to a light haze being visible in the cabin.

An Eastern Airways spokesman, said: “The Jetstream 41 with 25 passengers and three crew on board landed safely in Durham Tees Valley at 6.10pm and taxied to the terminal, where passengers disembarked as normal via the aircraft steps.

“Alternative transport was arranged to take the passengers to their destination.

“We do apologise to passengers for the inconvenience, but the safety of our passengers and crew is our primary concern.”

Lets face it, Pearson want to shut DTV down and sell the land off for housing to make a big fat profit, they are doing their best to discourage airlines from using it (such as Thompson Holidays who Pearson informed would not be welcome again this year). The are doing their best to discourage passengers for KLM and it now costs more to fly from DTV to Amsterdam (SCH) than it does from Newcastle (despite it actually being longer mileage wise) plus DTV own surcharge on top! i just wish someone with a bit of sense would buy Pearson out and use DTV (Or Teesside Airport as i still prefer to call it) as an AIRPORT rather than more housing potential.
What ever happened to the proposal to stage an air show there this year that i read about last year (or maybe the year before) i suppose Pearson torpedoed that idea too, God forbid that DTV gets used as an actual AIRPORT!!!
