EMERGENCY crews were called to a traffic accident in Northallerton today (Sunday, March 16), which left an elderly man trapped in a car.

The two vehicle collision happened at about 11am this morning in the Brompton area of Northallerton, on the A684. Fire crews from Northallerton and Bedale attended the scene, along with police and paramedics.

The firefighters released one man from a car using cutting equipment. He was taken to hospital by ambulance suffering spinal injuries.

The road was closed, causing a traffic build-up in both directions, as diversions were put in place.

NO EINSTEIN says...

Saw this accident about 3pm, it looked very bad, we saw 3 cars involved, and they were in a bad way, the recovery people had to lift then on there wagons they were so smashed up.
