FORESTRY officials are appealing for cyclists to get on their bikes and help complete part of a £235,000 woodland makeover.
Volunteers are needed to help build a new bike trail at Hamsterley Forest, County Durham.
Work has already begun on a new section of the mountain bike trail with help from members of local club Hamsterley Trailblazers.
Alex MacLennan, recreation and public affairs manager for the North East Forestry Commission said: “A lot of mountain bikers love the forest, but don’t realise how important it to support the trail building.
“If people can spare us a few hours or even a day or two it would be great – and a terrific opportunity to meet like-minded people and contribute to the ongoing popularity of Hamsterley Forest.”
Other improvements at Hamsterley Forest, which attracts 200,000 visitors a year, include a major renovation at the visitor centre, which is due for completion by Easter.
