DOZENS of prizes are up for grabs at a dinner-dance to raise funds for two charities.

The Easter Feast event is being held on Friday, April 18 in the Bannatyne Hotel, Darlington, to raise money for Diabetes UK and the town’s 700 Club, which helps homeless people.

The event includes a three course meal with wine, disco, and a prize draw, with dinner, bed and breakfast at Grinkle Park Hotel, near Whitby, and dinner for two at the Clubhouse at Rockliffe Hall, near Darlington, just some of the prizes on offer.

Event organiser Jade Sloan said she hopes the evening will raise awareness of Type 1 diabetes, which she has lived with for more than 24 years.

Students from Dimensions Dance Academy, in Darlington, will perform for guests as one of their pupils, eight-year-old Erika Porter, also suffers from Type 1 diabetes.

Mrs Sloan said: “Erika reminds me very much of myself, I danced all my life and went on to study musical theatre at college for three years after my A-Levels.

“Erika is a truly exceptional performer and although many think Type 1 diabetes can hold you back, I think we can both prove them wrong, there's nothing we can't do.”
