A PROGRAMME which aims to inspire students to pursue a career in science and technology is set to make a big bang in the North-East.
More than 6,000 of the region’s youngsters will learn how science, technology, engineering and mathematics can make a difference in the world thanks to the Big Bang North-East programme.
The project is part of a national scheme led by EngineeringUK and will also celebrate the achievements of young people in science and technology.
Three years’ worth of funding for the scheme was secured by Tees Valley Unlimited, Business Durham, Corylus Learning, Darlington College, Northumbria University and Teesside University, led by NYBEP.
Yvonne Emerson, partnership manager at NYBEP said: “We want as many young people from across the region to take part in this programme of activities and we want to engage as many employers and organisations as possible to share in the impact of inspiring our next generation of scientists and engineers.”
Free events will be held at Darlington College on June 18 and 19, and Northumbria University on June 20.
