RIVER searches will resume tomorrow (Saturday, March 8) for missing man Ben Clarkson who has now not been seen since last Sunday.

The 22-year-old disappeared after leaving a nightclub in York and was last seen at 3.40am in Layerthorpe, close to the junction with James Street.

Searches along the route he would have taken home to Heworth Green and the surrounding area have now been completed.

But further searches of the River Foss in the Heworth Green area, will resume on Saturday morning.

When Ben was last seen he was wearing dark skinny jeans, a grey T-shirt with an Eiffel Tower logo on the front and dark pumps with white trim and white toe caps.

He disappeared on the same day that the body of 20-year-old student Megan Roberts was recovered from the River Ouse, six weeks after she went missing - also following a night out.

An on-line petition was set up on Tuesday calling for new CCTV cameras to be installed by the Ouse and has already attracted almost 1,500 signatures.

The plea – at ipetitions.com/petition/introduce-cameras-in-the-dangerous-areas-of-york – hopes to see cameras installed to “prevent any more of the horrible unanswered questions of missing people.”
