STUDENTS staged a flash mob performance on their school dining room and entertained pupils with their version of music by Lady Gaga and Beyonce.

At lunchtime on Wednesday, March 5, choir members at Richmond School in North Yorkshire descended on their school dining room to conduct a surprise performance for fellow pupils.

It was part of their final rehearsals for a forthcoming regional celebration, the Music for Youth Festival, taking place at St Aidan’s CE High School in Harrogate on Saturday (March 8).

The school’s concert band and swing band are also due to take part.

The festival, the largest of its kind in the world, gives thousands of young musicians the chance to perform at festivals in their local area.

The best groups are then invited to a week-long music celebration in Birmingham in July.
