MOTORISTS have been warned some roads in York city centre will be closed throughout the weekend to ensure safety at the Liberal Democrat conference.
The conference will take place at the Barbican Centre from today (Friday, March 7) to Sunday (March 9).
A Trade Union Congress demonstration is planned for tomorrow (Saturday, March 8), which North Yorkshire Police said it would manage.
Superintendent Phil Cain, York Safer Neighbourhood Commander, said: “The Liberal Democrat Conference is a large scale event which North Yorkshire Police and it’s partners have planned for.
“We are committed to ensuring a safe and secure conference for all involved and minimising the disruption to the general public in York over the weekend.”
