BURLARS wearing balaclavas held a pensioner hostage in his home and stole his wallet after demanding money.

Police are appealing for information following an aggravated burglary at a property in Victoria Terrace, Saltburn.

The terrifying incident happened between 7.45pm and 8pm on Tuesday, February 25, when two men entered a home and held the victim, a 65-year-old man, against his will.

The suspects demanded money and they made off with the victim’s wallet and two ornaments.

A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said: The first suspect is described as around 5ft 10” tall, of slim build, wearing a thigh-length green jacket, possibly drawn in at the waist, and green trousers.

“The second suspect is described as around 6ft tall and wearing a blue jacket. Both were wearing gloves and had their faces covered with balaclavas."

Anyone with information regarding the incident or anyone who may know the identity of the suspects is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Dave Pettrick of Redcar & Cleveland Volume Crime Team on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555 111.
