A TALK on how the British Library came into existence and how it is facing the challenges of new media is to take place in North Yorkshire.

Martyn Lunn, from the British Library in Boston Spa, will be giving the illustrated talk at Ripon Civic Society’s next talk on Thursday, March 6.

Mr Lunn is the library’s business change and development manager and will look at the resource’s history, services and future developments.

The library includes more than 150 million items and three million new items are added every year to the buildings at London’s St Pancras and Boston Spa. An extra 12km of shelving is required every year.

Everyone is welcome to the talk, which takes place at 7.30pm on Thursday, March 6 at Allhallowgate Methodist Church Hall, Victoria Grove, Ripon. There is a charge of £3 for anyone who is not a Civic Society member.
