A DIAMOND suspended in ice will give a North-East shopper a Valentine’s weekend to remember.

A heart-warming sight greeted visitors to the Queens Street shopping centre in Darlington as a competition got underway today (Friday, February 14).

A diamond ring worth £1,600 glistened in the centre of a giant heart of ice as shoppers were asked how long it would take for the heart to melt.

The competition, organised by Distinct Darlington in conjunction with Bramwell Jewellers, runs until 5pm tomorrow (Saturday February 15) and will see one winner take home the glittering prize.
