Middlesbrough MP Andy McDonald will mark the last day of alcohol-free ‘dry January’ to carry out his own health-check on one of the town’s Healthy Living Pharmacies.

Mr McDonald is visiting Lloyds Pharmacy on Ormesby High Street tomorrow (Friday) to see how staff promote healthy lifestyles.

The one-stop shop offers advice on health issues including alcohol consumption, smoking, sexual health, substance misuse and medicines. Pharmacy manager, Przemyslaw Pindor, and his six-strong team provide a service to customers across Ormesby, Park End, Priestfields, Spencerbeck, Netherfields, Overfields and Thorntree.

LUNCH CLUB: Hungry diners have a tasty treat in store when a new luncheon club opens at Newport Community Hub every Thursday from February 6 at Newport Settlement in St Paul’s Road, Middlesbrough. Meals will be served from noon, with a two-course meal costing £3 for adults and £1.50 for children under 12. TEA DANCES: A series of tea dances are taking place at the Borough Hall in Hartlepool on Wednesdays from 1pm to 3pm starting February 5 aimed at people aged 16 and over. Each weekly tea dance will cost £1.50 or eight weeks can be paid for in advance for £10. The sessions are part of a Begin 2 Dance initiative run by Hartlepool Council’s Sport and Physical Activity Team in partnership with Nouveau Fitness CIC.
