SOME of the North-East’s most inspirational women will be celebrated at an event in February.

Politician Mo Mowlam, explorer Gertrude Bell and suffragette Emily Davison are among those celebrated in the Inspirational Women of North-East England art exhibition, currently running at the Crown Street Library in Darlington.

The exhibition runs alongside another, artist Holly Pine’s photographic exhibition Love from, Women, which aims to challenge traditional representations of women.

Both exhibitions will run until Thursday, February 20 but Monday, February 10 sees them take centre stage at a special event.

Visitors to the Crown Street Library are invited to enjoy the exhibitions during an evening of entertainment that will also feature a talk from artist Holly Pines and poetry readings from writers collective Vane Women.

The event starts at 6.30pm and is free of charge.
