A CRICKET club has donated a selection of sports equipment to help bring through the next generation of players.
Yarm Cricket Club, which is celebrating its 200th anniversary this year, called into the town’s Levendale Primary School to deliver the ECB Cricket Factory Core Skill Set and hold a short training session with the pupils.
The club’s academy coach Stewart Ballantyne said: “It was a really good session and it was really well received by the pupils in the school. We are trying to develop community ties and are always looking for the next generation of players coming through.
“This is the first time that we have donated any cricket gear to a school be we hope to be able to make it an annual event.”
The club is organising a series of events throughout the year to mark its bicentenary including playing a past versus present game in August.
Anyone interested in getting involved in the celebrations, or who has any memorabilia, is asked to visit yarmcc.playcricket.com
