A19 ACCIDENT: A woman was taken to hospital by ambulance after crashing her car on the A19 in the early hours of this morning (Monday Jan 27).

No other vehicles were involved in the accident, which involved a red Mini Cooper on the A19 northbound about a mile south of the Parkway turnoff, near Stainton. The road was closed for a time following the accident, just after 1am.

Fire crews from Thornaby, Coulby Newham and Middlesbrough attended the scene, although the woman had managed to get out of the car.

She was taken to the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough by ambulance for a check-up.

BIKE STAMPING: A bike stamping session will be held on Saturday February 15 from 1.30 to 3.30pm at the Ingleby Barwick Community Centre at the junction of Heresford Way/Beckfields Avenue.

PCSO Robert Gilpin from the Ingleby Barwick Neighbourhood Police Team will be urging cycle owners to protect their property, including children who got a new bike for Christmas.
