A BARRISTER claimed his client had learnt a “salutary lesson” from his involvement in a violent incident for which several men have been convicted.
Adam Toman was found guilty of assault and affray following a trial at Teesside Crown Court which heard how he had kicked and punched the entrance door to a nightclub and attacked another man.
The 22-year-old, of Mill Hill Close, Brompton, Northallerton, found himself in the dock after the fracas in Northallerton in the early hours of October 20, 2012.
His barrister Jonny Walker said: “This has been a salutary lesson learnt for him.”
The Recorder of Middlesbrough, Judge Simon Bourne-Arton told Toman: “This was a shocking incident in a sleepy market town.”
The defendant was sentenced to 12 months prison, suspended for two years, and told to do 140 hours unpaid work. He will also be subject to a four-month long electronically monitored curfew.
The judge warned him he would be locked up if he committed further offences.
