SPRINGFIELD Academy pupils proved their sporting prowess by beating every primary school in Darlington to top a sports league table.
Youngsters aged between eight and 11, took part in dozens of sports and athletic competitions throughout last year as part of the borough-wide Darlington Games competition.
Winning teams were given points after each individual contest and these were added up at the end of the year with Springfield Academy being declared as overall winners for the 2012/13 season.
They received a trophy for their efforts this week and Katie Bull, Springfield’s PE and extended schools co-ordinator, said she was delighted with the pupils’ achievement.
She said: “I am just really, really proud of the children.
“Obviously we are a small school and I just think they have done so well.
“They entered so many competitions and tried so hard.”
