TALENTED young performers are getting ready to tread the boards in their school show.

Cast and crew of the forthcoming performance of West Side Story at Teesdale School, in Barnard Castle, are in the final stage of rehearsals ahead of next month’s show.

The American musical was inspired by William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and explores the rivalry between two teen street gangs in New York, the Jets and the Sharks.

There will be performances in the school’s main hall on Wednesday, February 5 to Friday, February 7, at 7.15pm each night.

Tickets, priced £6 for adults and £4 for concessions, will be available at the school or on 01833-638166 from Monday, January 27.
