CHARITY fundraising runners are needed to take part in The Sport Relief Mile at Barnard Castle.

The Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile is been organised by Durham County Council and runners of all ages can take part.

Entrants can complete in one, three or six mile races with runners invited to don fancy dress for the challenge.

The event will start at Teesdale School on Sunday, March 23 with the athletes in the six mile race setting off at 10am.

Runners can collect sponsorship for the challenge to help change lives in the UK and across the world in some of the poorest countries.

Families and elite athletes racing the clock can tackle the Teesdale course. Entrants can complete the course however they wish including by running, walking and hopping.

Last year thousands of runners took part in the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile across the UK including in Darlington and Bedale, in North Yorkshire.

Entry is £6 for adults, £3 for children aged under 16-years and £15 for a family of four.
