A FORMER riverside eyesore in the centre of York is being converted into luxury new apartments.

The Bonding Warehouse, a listed 19th-century building on Skeldergate by the River Ouse, has lain empty for 13 years.

It was being used as a pub and music venue – but was hit by disastrous flooding in the city in 2000.

However local developers Grantside bought the building in 2012 and work is now well underway on the conversion – with the new flats having a starting price of £625,000.

Managing director Steve Davis said: “Our team have used the historic attributes of the building and created exceptional accommodation, which will see the building transformed from its derelict state to an impressive, sustainable place to live and work.”

As well as four apartments – with two and three bedrooms – the development will also include office space on the lower floors.
