THE TEAM behind a North Yorkshire wedding venue is celebrating after picking up a national award – and just missing out on the top prize of best wedding venue.
Middleton Lodge, near Middleton Tyas, near Richmond, has been recognised as having the best wedding event team in the country under team leader Anna Russell, and was runner up in the prestigious best wedding venue in the Wedding Industry Awards.
Middleton Lodge was the regional winner of best wedding venue.
Staff were stunned when they found out they had won and come so close to the top spot for venue.
Marketing manager Sue Allison said: “We are absolutely thrilled for Anna – but it didn’t even cross our minds that we would win, we were pleased just to be attending the ceremony.
“When they announced Anna as the winner my hands were shaking. And to be named as runner up in the national finals is just amazing.”
Middleton Lodge started running weddings in 2008 and since then has grown and improved with each year – and the win is the team’s first set of awards.
Owner James Allison added: “This year we will be adding a nine room boutique hotel in a converted coach house, which will have a restaurant open to the public as well.”
As an extension of the highly successful Middleton Lodge Supper club, the food will be contemporary British fare, using local ingredients wherever possible.
