A NORTH-EAST jazz club with more than 15 years history to its name is settling into a new venue.

The Darlington New Orleans Jazz Club now holds its meetings in St Augustine’s Parish Centre, in Larchfield Street.

A spokesman for the club said: “The new venue is proving popular with the loyal supporters of the club.

“The acoustics are excellent and all the bands and musicians who have appeared so far have been very complimentary and look forward to returning.

“Many people will remember the good old Arts Centre garden bar Saturday lunch time jazz sessions and we look forward to welcoming back all the people who have lost touch with the club since the sad closure of the centre.

“You will all be most welcome and we need to build up the audience numbers to ensure the club continues for another 15 years at least and there is a quality venue for the best jazz musicians on the circuit.

“There are some excellent young musicians on the scene and we have some very special new bands appearing in 2014.

“It would be great to get young people along to support them and again young, middle aged and shall we say ‘mature’ members of the audience all go to make for a happy enjoyable mix and all will be welcome.”

The group meets from 12.30pm until 3pm on the first Saturday of each month.

Admission costs £10. For more information, visit darlingtonjazz.co.uk
