CHARITIES in the Thirsk area will receive £1,500 following donations to the town’s Rotary club Santa run.
A team from the club brought Santa and his elves to Thirsk, Norby, Sowerby and Carlton Miniott on December 15, 16 and 22.
After expenses of £100, there will be funds to meet the costs of the Christmas dinner in East Thirsk Community Hall, the Rotary Endeavour Awards given to schoolchildren and other local charities.
Rotarian Julian Capell, who organised the Santa run, said: “Although the weather mostly held off it was very cold, so we’d like to thank all who came out to meet Santa and give so generously.”
