A MAN is fighting for his life in hospital after being hit by a car while climbing into his van.
The 44-year-old suffered a serious head injury in the incident in York on Monday afternoon, January 20.
He was hit by a red Vauxhall Insignia while gaining access to his silver Ford Transit van via the sliding side door on Naburn Lane at around 2.55pm.
The injured man, from Leeds, is currently being treated at Hull Royal Infirmary where his condition is described as critical but stable. The driver of the Vauxhall was not hurt.
Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle before the incident to contact them with information.
