A TERRIFIED mum was savagely beaten and degraded when her estranged partner attacked her after a three-day drink and drugs binge.

Ricky Henderson, 23, was locked up for 15 months for what a judge at Teesside Crown Court described as a "vile and disgraceful" attack.

The court heard how Henderson:

* kicked his former partner down the stairs of his flat;

* dumped the contents of a wheelie-bin over her head;

* took off his shoe and beat the young mum with it;

* poured a carton of sour days' old milk over her head;

* chased her on his bike, and threw it at her; and

* dragged her about by the legs and kicked her .

The victim suffered bruising and grazes all over her body, including the imprint of a shoe across her shoulder.

In an impact statement , she said: "I was terrified at the time, but I am more so now. He won't be afraid to do anything to me now, and I'm scared of what will happen next."

Three days after the attack last August, jobless Henderson contacted her on Facebook and offered £1,000 if she dropped the charges.

Kieran Rainey, mitigating, said his client has not slept for three days while he boozed and took drugs, and was "irritable".

Mr Rainey said Henderson suffered serious head injuries in a hammer attack four years ago, and relied upon his partner for emotional support.

"He feels extremely sorry for what he has done," said the barrister. "He can only remember parts of this incident."

But the court heard Henderson has previous convictions for domestic-related violence and damage, and accused his ex of exaggerating the details.

Henderson, of Shelley Road, Middlesbrough, admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm and perverting the course of justice.
