Youngsters are celebrating in new sport kits after receiving an award for excellence in PE.

Pupils at Bolton on Swale St Mary’s Church of England Primary School have been awarded the Bronze Kite Award for PE and Sporting Excellence.

And all 96 children who attend the school have been given new training tops thanks to the generosity of a parent and car dealership manager who has provided sponsorship through Mill Garages, Harrogate.

The Bronze Kite Mark Award for PE and Sporting Excellence recognises the school’s achievements and opportunities provided for sport, and for its commitment, engagement and delivery of competitive school sport.

The training tops, which will be worn by all pupils when they represent the school at sporting events, including football, netball, tennis, rounders, hockey, rugby and athletics tournaments, have been purchased the garage firm.

Mill Garage’s Harrogate manager Mark Tramner, whose seven-year-old son attends the school, said: “The school appealed for a sponsor and I thought it was a lovely idea to give the children and school a smart identity. “The children should feel proud when representing their school and hopefully looking smart will aid their performance.”

Head teacher Nicola Dobson said: “We have a strong sporting community in the school and are so proud of our recent sporting achievement, which is the culmination lots of hard work and development through internal and external school fixtures.

“The students and staff have committed many hours dedicated to sport to achieve this award and it only seemed right to mark the occasion with something for every pupil.

“I’d like to say a big thank you to our sponsors.”
