A weekly sports club for youngsters is starting at Whinfield Primary School on Monday (January 20).

There will be a range of games on offer including table tennis, tri golf and netball.

The sessions are free and will run every Monday from 6pm to 7pm.

The club has been set up by Darlington Council’s sports development team and the Places for People Housing Association and is suitable for children in school years five to eight.

NO PARKING: The East Street multi-storey cark park behind Wilkinson’s in the town centre will be closed next Tuesday and Wednesday for maintenance work.

All vehicles must be removed from the car park by 6.30pm on Monday and the facility will reopen at 8am on Thursday.

Lets hope that parents who take their children to the sports club use the Asda car park for parking and not Augusta Close as they do through the day.The congestion caused by thoughtless parents parking their cars as close to Whinfield school as possible during school start/finish times is amazing. As a resident i try to avoid leaving the house during those times but sometimes it's unavoidable and it's hell. What will it take to make parents use the spaces in Asdas car park..
