A MAN is still fighting for his life in hospital – almost a week after he suffered serious head injuries in a road smash.

The 21-year-old was riding his orange Aprilia moped along the A19 Shipton Road in York, when he was in collision with a black Ford Fiesta at about 5.40pm on January 8.

And police investigating the incident are now making a fresh appeal for witnesses to come forward.

The moped rider, a local man, was taken to Leeds General Infirmary after the collision remains in a critical but stable condition.

Traffic Sergeant Julian Pearson said: “If you witnessed the collision and have not yet contacted the police, I urge you to do so straight away.

“I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw the orange Aprilia moped as it travelled along the A1237 as it headed from Poppleton towards the A19, and ask them to get in touch.”
