BARN CONVERSIONS: Three agricultural buildings that have been derelict for decades are to be converted and extended to create six new homes in a village near Thirsk.

Hambleton District Council’s planning committee approved the plans yesterday (Thursday, January 9).

The barns, off Catton Village Street, Catton, will be partly demolished and partly restored to maintain the features of the buildings, which are not listed but, according to planning officers, are of a quality that they should not be lost.

Catton Parish Council and the local community supported the application to improve the outlook of the area.
