Police make arrest in connection with burglary and assault of 87-year-old woman
ARREST MADE: Police have arrested a man on suspicion of burglary and an assault which left an elderly woman in hospital.
The 33-year-old man was arrested in York this afternoon (Tuesday, January 7) and is being questioned about the offence in Victoria Court on New Year’s Day.
Officers are still trying to trace a bicycle which was linked to the incident, described as a grey or silver, old-style gents bike, with straight handle bars.
The 87-year-old victim remains in a critical condition in hospital. Anyone with information can contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555-111.
