TEACHERS MEET: The Darlington Retired Teachers’ Association will host its first meeting of 2014 on Wednesday, January 8, at 2pm in The Harroway Room at Elm Ridge. The speaker will be Steve Owers of Teesdale and Weardale Mountain Rescue, who will give an illustrated talk, In All Weathers. Visitors and new members are welcome to join. RnB CLUB: North-East band The Alligators will kick off the new year for the Darlington R’n’B Club on Friday, January 10 at The Forum, in Borough Road, Darlington, at 7.30pm. Lead vocalist Robert Kane is also known for his role as a singer with Dr Feelgood. Tickets are £10, available on the door or by calling 01325-363135.

WINTER CONCERT: Darlington Orchestra will host its Winter Concert on Saturday, January 25, at 7.30pm in Central Hall, to the rear of the Dolphin Centre. The programme will feature guest vocalists The Middleton Festival Choir and a range of musical styles. Tickets are £6 for adults, £4 concessions, available by calling 01325-388406, from the Dolphin Centre reception or on the door.
