POLICE are appealing for information following a collision which resulted in two young girls being taken to hospital.

The collision happened at around 2.30pm yesterday (January 2) and involved a BMW 320D and a Citroen Xsara Picasso on the A1085 Trunk Road in South Bank at the junction with Skippers Lane near Middlesbrough.

The drivers of both cars and two girls aged two and eight, travelling in the BMW, required hospital treatment for minor injuries. The girls were detained in hospital overnight and are in a stable condition.

Any witnesses to the collision are asked to contact PC Sarah Tribick from the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit on the non-emergency 101 number, quoting event number 1041.

LIBRARY CHANGES: RESIDENTS are being reminded libraries across Stockton Borough will be changing their opening hours in the New Year. From Monday, January 6, branches at Fairfield, Roseworth, Thornaby (Westbury Street), Egglescliffe and Billingham (Bedale Avenue) will have new timetables and both Stockton Central and Thornaby Central libraries will no longer be open on Sundays.
