REG SINGLE: Solar bid to cut charity's costs
ANIMAL charity bosses are hoping to cutting energy bills so more money can be spent on welfare work.
Plans have been drawn up to install solar panels at the RSPCA base on Landing Lane in York as a way of tackling rising energy costs.
The branch is self-funding and needs at least £1,400 every day to run and its current base is used to care for dogs, cats, rabbits and other animals which have been abandoned or mistreated.
It is expected the panels – which would also be environmentally cleaner through reducing carbon emissions - could cut the branch’s operating costs by £2,000 a year, with this saving being greater if energy prices rise.
