POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man suffered facial injuries when he was struck by a taxi in the early hours of New Year’s Day.

The incident took place outside Eaglescliffe Golf Club on Yarm Road in Stockton at 1.50am when a man and woman were attempting to flag down the taxi.

Following the collision, the driver failed to stop.

The man was taken to James Cook University Hospital suffering from an injury to the left side of his face and left eye.

The taxi is described as black and yellow and of a similar size and shape to a Fiat Doblo or Peugeot Partner Van.
