STUDENTS entertained their community’s most senior citizens at a festive lunch that bridged the generation gap.
Darlington School of Mathematics and Science threw open its doors to residents of sheltered housing schemes and homes in Cockerton and Branksome.
Guests were treated to festive favourites courtesy of a school choir and a sumptuous lunch complete with turkey and Christmas pudding.
Visitor June Legg said: “It’s the first time I have been and it has been lovely. The meal was fantastic and it was delightful talking to the wonderful students; they looked after us so well.”
Head teacher Calvin Kipling added: “The school lies at the heart of this community and we are thrilled that so many people accepted our invitation to share Christmas lunch.
“We are very proud to show off our new-look school and the students really enjoy talking to visitors and serving them hearty Christmas fare.”
