AGE UK Darlington is launching its Doorstep Walks series for 2014 with a stroll around South Park and nearby nature reserves.

It takes place on January 13 and participants are invited to take along a packed lunch and meet at the South Park Clock Tower at 10.30am for a 10.45am start.

The walk, which is just over three miles long, will be led by Derek Lindsay and more information is available on 07860 356786.

GOOD DOG: A new dog training class starts at Hurworth Grange Community Centre on January 9.

The eight-week course is run by The Skernedale Dog Training Club and is a basic dog obedience programme for beginners, including socialisation with dogs and people.

Sessions start at 7pm and the usual class for more advanced dogs will continue from 8pm.
