GIRLS at a Teesside school have already had a record-breaking year on the sports field.

The sporting girls at Egglecliffe School, near Stockton, have won more victories since the start of the academic year than ever before.

Girls in the under 14 badminton team were crowned Stockton District Champions, whilst the under 15 netball team remain undefeated in their league.

The under 13 football girls came just shy of a trophy, finishing runners up in the National Schools Cup competition. The U13 Volleyball team’s enthusiasm and commitment led them to outstanding success, becoming the undefeated Tess Valley Champions of 2013.

The success continued with the older girls, the under 16 Hockey team took on the private schools and came runners up in the indoor district competition, captained by Charlotte Coxon. To top this all off, even girls in the Sixth Form have things to gloat about, successfully qualifying for the next round of England Netball National Schools, fighting off schools such as Carmel in Darlington.

Proud PE teacher, Rachael Masterman, said: “This outstanding term of success has been down to the commitment of the students, as well as the dedication of the female PE staff. Let’s hope this is only the tip of the success stories to come from the Egglescliffe girls.”
