A CHARITY shop has been badly damaged by floods.

Water cascaded into The Butterwick Hospice shop in Thornaby from a heavy leak in the premises above the shop.

The walls, floor, electrics and thousands of pounds worth of stock were damaged and now an appeal has been issued to replace the goods.

The Thornaby Town Centre shop is the largest of Butterwick’s high street shops. It’s thought the damage occurred on Boxing Day. Anyone who can donate new stock can do so at any of the charity’s other shops or its warehouse in Guiseley Way, Durham Lane Industrial Estate, Eaglescliffe. Alternatively telephone 01642 788201.
