AN APPEAL has gone out for local hero nominations.

Stockton Borough Council will hold its third annual Civic Awards in April, but is asking for nominations now.

Mayor of Stockton, Councillor Kathryn Nelson said: “If you know someone who you think deserves an award, please help them get recognition by nominating them for the Civic Awards..”

There are five award categories:

• Young Person Award recognises an individual or group of young people (under 25) who deserve special recognition.

• Service to Community Award (groups and organisations) .

• Service to the Community Award (individuals) • Green Award is for those who have made a significant difference to the conservation and protection of the borough’s natural environment.

• Carer/Foster Carer Award honours dedication of an individual or couple, who have provided a loving and supportive family life to a child or sibling group who do not live with their birth family.
