THORNABY Library and customer service centre was closed today, Friday, December 27 after heavy rain caused water to enter the building, damaging some of the electrics.

Workmen are expected to repair the electrics today and the library is due to reopen as usual tomorrow, Saturday, December 28.

GET FIT: Bookings are now being taken for a range of New Year sport and fitness sessions at venues across Hartlepool. They are part of the New Year, New You initiative run by Hartlepool Borough Council’s Sport and Physical Activity Team and activities range from community walks to pilates. ALE & ARTY: Tickets are now on sale for this year’s Ale & Arty Beer Festival. The festival will be held at The Arc in Stockton from Thursday, February 20 to Saturday, February 22 and there will be more than 70 beers, ciders and perrys on offer. There will also be a variety of comedy acts and bands. Ticket prices currently vary from £3.50 to £4.50 or £12 to see the Cadillac Kings band on the Thursday night.
