Searches are continuing today (December 27) for a missing North Yorkshire man.

Simon Hodgson-Greaves’ camper van was found in the RSPB car park at Bempton Cliffs near Bridlington on Saturday, December 21, having been parked there overnight with no sign of the owner.

Officers from North Yorkshire Police are due to carry out further searches at Bempton Cliffs RSPB centre and the surrounding area today (December 27).

Yesterday (December 26), sea and air searches were carried out by HM Coastguard, the RNLI, RAF Leconfield and volunteers from Scarborough and Ryedale Search and Rescue Team.

Teams searched the cliffs and the shore line by air, lifeboat and on foot, but Mr Hodgson-Greaves remains missing.

Officers have renewed their appeal for members of the public who may have seen him since Friday, 20 December, particularly those who were in the area of Bempton Cliffs and the surrounding area.

Mr Hodgson-Greaves, 48, is known to go on frequent camping trips and likes to go walking. He also has an interest in the RSPB and had visited the area in the past. It is now known that he had been staying in his van on and off for a number of weeks.

He is described as white, about 6ft tall and of slim build. He has sandy coloured hair, a greying beard and moustache, blue eyes and wears spectacles. He is known to dress smartly and often wears tweed jackets, shirts and scarves.
