A PARKED car was badly damaged after an Arriva bus left the road on an early morning route.

The silver Skoda vehicle sustained damage to its front and side panels during the incident in Fenby Avenue, Darlington, at 7.29am this morning (Monday, December 23).

Witnesses reported that the bus left the road and mounted the pavement before hitting the other vehicle.

People living in the street went outside after the collision and were told by the bus driver, who was operating the number 13 route, that he felt dizzy.

There were no injuries reported to the bus driver or his passengers.

A police spokesman confirmed that officers from the Durham Police roads policing unit were investigating to the cause of the collision.

Nick Knox, area managing director for Arriva North East, said: "We can confirm that one of our buses was involved in an incident with a parked car this morning.

“There were no reported injuries. We are investigating the incident to establish what happened."
