MP Andy McDonald pays a visit to Middlesbrough sorting office

POSTMEN and women at Royal Mail’s Middlesbrough delivery office got a visit from their MP at their busiest time of year.

Andy McDonald, MP for Middlesbrough, was shown around and introduced to all the “posties” who were working hard sorting all the cards and parcels in the Middlesbrough area in the run-up to Christmas.

Mr McDonald said: “It was great to meet the dedicated, hard-working Royal Mail postmen and women at Middlesbrough delivery office and to see first-hand just how much effort they put into delivering for people at this time of year.”

Delivery office manager Ashley Taylor said: “Christmas is the busiest time of the year for Royal Mail. Our people pull out all the stops throughout the year to ensure mail is delivered quickly, but even more so over the busy festive period.

“We are grateful that Andy McDonald MP came along to see the hard work that goes on behind the scenes.”
